ACT Policing has arrested a 32-year-old male of no fixed abode after seizing drugs, drug paraphernalia, firearm ammunition and property suspected to be stolen during a search of his vehicle early this morning.

About 1.15am, police approached a parked vehicle in the Dickson Tradies car park. Police observed the male in the driver’s seat and one female in the passenger seat, along with drug paraphernalia and firearm ammunition in plain view.

Police searched the vehicle and seized substances suspected to be heroin and methyl amphetamine, drug paraphernalia, firearm ammunition and a number of items suspected to be stolen property.

The male was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House where he was later charged with possession of a drug of dependence, possession of ammunition without a license, traffic in controlled drug, possession of stolen property and being in breach of bail conditions.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court later today.

Not gonna lie, that’s quite impressive for a homeless bloke.

Highly organised criminal masterminds, them.

In a car at 1.15 am in the Tradies car park with a pile of dope, the works and some ammo…all sitting there for a passing rozzer to see.

I wonder how this pair would score on an IQ test?

I believe that you are trying to bring a literal context to my comment with a hallucinatory Vietnam War story movie scene, when really, you have provided quite a decent cinematic reference to the old “Guns are tools not weapons” argument.

I still think an LSD-inspired go on a patrol-boat deck-mounted .50-cal looks like it could be quite a lot more interesting than either option in isolation.

Another way to look at it to think about how hard it would be to spot a 9mm handgun in your potmix? Hmmmm?

It would kind of stand out a bit wouldnt it?

Well I would hazard a guess that, counter-intuitively, as the level of potmix in the potmix receptacle dwindled, the handgun would in fact become ever harder to detect.

I wouldnt be surprised if the most likely reason for it to be in there is to bring up the weight and it would probably block the cone and thats how the terrorists win.

Now that you have mentioned terrorists, it behooves me to bring your attention to a certain group of people called that hashishim. If they had had access to guns, there is no doubt they would have happily mixed them into their normal day-to-day professional routine, I am sure.

Drugs and guns should never be mixed is what you should take away from that semi cautionary made up example.

I realise this goes against everything the internet stands for, but I’d like to say, good point, and well made.

I’ve seen Apocalypse Now and Lance provides a fairly good demonstration that you are wrong. So does the black soldier with the M-79 listening to Hendrix at the Do Long bridge.

So, is this a “real” firearms related offence, or a idiot who had a couple of old twelve gauge cartridges on the dash of his car next to his bong, cause they look cool?

That would explain the incredibly noticible Police presence in Dickson last night. Good work to the boys in blue. Drugs and guns never mix.

I wonder if this is related to the 20 or so gunshot sounds I heard near Lyneham last night at around 12:30…
