Dumped roo carcasses in Curtin

The ABC has a curious story on the illegal dumping of ~20 kangaroo carcasses near Curtin within days of the Government organised cull completing.

Parks and Reserves acting manager Daniel Iglesias says the killings were not part of the Government’s recent cull of 500 kangaroos in the Canberra Nature Reserve.

However he says it appears it was done by someone who had a licence.

One wonders how they know it was done by a licensed shooter and how in the next breathe they can claim that licensed shooters always dispose of the bodies properly.

I’m going the conspiracy route: It’s the NKCP trying to make the cullers look bad 😉

Zombie Kangaroos.
They were actually buried, but rose up to try and get revenge on the people that culled them.

LOL! I like this theory.

Daniel Iglesias? Any relation to Julio?

. . . and I bet he’s sick and tired of being asked that, too.

#7 – grump – LMAO!!!

“letting them lie” – that’s what the city rangers have been doing for years – dead roos beside the road are left to rot….

I reckon a landholder shot them (legally) and then dumped them on ACT Gov land in protest.

Either way, you’ve got a pile of dead jawas, disguised as roos.

Or stormtroopers, even.

The Canberra Times had it yesterday (Mon) as an exclusive, and had a few extra details. Like the ACT Government white tags found nearby and only available to licenced shooters. According to WIN, this was later confirmed by the Government.

Apparently landholders are given approval, and the tags, for private culls, if the roo population explodes.

But what I found most interesting is the disposal of these roos. They can be buried in a pit, or let lie. In other words, leave them where they lie and let them slowly decompose.

I would have thought that if you were trying to adopt best practice, you would at least force the shooters to bury the animals.

On the TV news tonight, Jessica (who is trying, she had a weird but not frumpy top on) said the gov’t had confirmed that they were shot by someone with an official licence to “cull” them.
