charity bin

Thanks to P1 for sending in the pic with this note:

You can dump’em for free, but there is still a broken telly by the charity bins in Kippax tonight.

Flat panel too.

Now that one can drop off old or broken tv’s and computer products for FREE there is absolutely no excuse to dump them at charity bins!

Never was an excuse. People will shell out three or four dole checks for a flatscreen but wont pay two packs of smokes to get rid of it? total bs.

I suspect you’ll find that it wasn’t just the bogans who objected to having to pay $40 or whatever they charged you to drop off tvs at the recycling centre. No self-respecting bogan(oxymoron) would ever forego $40 worth of ciggies and booze especially when there’s a charity bin nearby!

F$%k me – are people really so infantile?

I assume that’s a rhetorical question, since the answer is obvious
People are infants and so need the nanny state they whine so much about

To be fair, this is one TV as opposed to the previous flood.

This merely illustrates that society will always contain a hardcore douchebag component. At least now the charities don’t cop it in the neck for this particular brand of bollocks.

I reckon they could have tried a bit harder to collect the backlog of analogue TVs though. Maybe some big collections near the shopping centre areas. If you don’t have transport of your own, you aren’t going to catch a bus or a taxi out to the ‘resource centre’.

Just get rid of the 24×7 charity bins I reckon.

So … let me get this straight … someone can’t organise transport for themselves, but can manage to buy a flatscreen and get it home (and to the shops to dump it)?

This is bollocks. When there was a fee for dumping old TVs, all the whingers said it was the gummint’s fault that they were being dumped. Now it’s free, people are still dumping them and the claim is ‘it’s still too hard’. What’s next? ‘The gummint should go to everyone’s house and ask them if they have any tellies to get rid of?’ (even then, there’d probably be people whining that the trucks were coming at inconvenient times).

F$%k me – are people really so infantile?

I’d assume the TV has a serial number. Even if customers don’t register their purchase, the shops often do.

Maybe a cooperative arrangement between distributers and rangers could start raining dumping fines down on slobs?
