burn notice

The ACT Government wishes to advise the public that (weather permitting) a controlled burn will be conducted tomorrow, Tuesday 30 October 2012, within the Dunlop Grasslands Nature Reserve. The burn is approximately 10 hectares in size.

The Territory and Municipal Services Fire Management Unit is trialling the use of variable message signs to notify nearby residents that a controlled burn will be/is being undertaken. Two signs have been placed on Kerrigan Street in Dunlop (see attached photo).

The signs are a good idea, however you would think one sign would be placed on Kerrigan Street nearer to Fraser and another on Ginninderra Drive. Not everyone in Dunlop drives past where the signs have been placed, wheras the two locations mentioned above would cover everyone except those that come into Dunlop on Archdall Street
