TAMS have the extraordinary news that West Belconnen is going to look much nicer in twenty years:

The streets of Dunlop will be revamped throughout winter and spring this year with approximately 600 new trees to be planted in the suburb’s streets.

“Territory and Municipal Services recently undertook a comprehensive audit of street trees in Dunlop which identified those that require maintenance works as well as vacant sites for street tree planting,” Michael Brice, Manager of Urban Treescapes, said today.

“The audit found that there are 692 vacant sites suitable for planting on verges in the suburb of Dunlop. This is a significant gap in the suburb’s existing streetscapes.

“As part of TAMS’ winter and spring tree planting programs, work will commence in the coming weeks to plant approximately 600 new trees on verges in Dunlop. Over time this will help establish the streetscape, improve amenity, provide shade in summer and add value to adjacent homes.

Trees in suburbs? Have they taken leave(s) of their senses…

Nah, it’s just more ALP branch stacking.

Therein lies the root of the problem..

Ah… I’ve just twigged to what is going on here….

Mate, you can’t even see the forest for the trees.

Thankfully, your bark is worse than your bite.

I wish someone would ring-bark your trunk.

You’re all barking up the wrong tree.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say we really have risen to great heights..

The gravel can’t grow roots that can grow through your pipes.

the street trees are on the nature strip and any piping that is in the nature strip belongs to the ACTEW, so why is it an issue?

Even less of an issue as the trees belong to TAMS and they are liable for damage caused to your pipes.

Yeah right. Wait until it happens to you then see who is prepared to pay to fix it..

Hope the residents don’t remove the tree’s to put in bogan red gravel car parking on the nature strip, which is what happened to a lot of the trees that were planted when the place was originally developed.

I’d rather gravel over trees.

The gravel can’t grow roots that can grow through your pipes.

Now let me guess you don’t like grass either, it afterall needs water and a cut every now and then.

PS Don’t want to put logic into the argument but the street trees are on the nature strip and any piping that is in the nature strip belongs to the ACTEW, so why is it an issue?

Where else are they supposed to park the excess vehicles associated with having 20something year old kids who haven’t left home? There’s no room on their block and none on the street.

Hope the residents don’t remove the tree’s to put in bogan red gravel car parking on the nature strip, which is what happened to a lot of the trees that were planted when the place was originally developed.
