Don`t pretend that bacon and egg McMuffins aren`t awesome

One morning stuck in Sydney waiting to go out to the airport by bus, Oxford Street it was, I found myself in the dire predicament of being ravenous with the only breakfast available under some ludicrous plastic golden arches. Having heard from occasional exposures to advertising that these symbols represented some form of food, I ventured in and succedded in conveying to the half-awake slave chained behind the till that I was desirous of some scrambled eggs and bacon, and shortly thereafter a meal appeared on a plastic tray.

Taking it to my cubicle I delved into the wonders of a McDonalds breakfast, some of which looked like, and tasted at least partially like, familiar breakfast items. However I was at a bit of a loss to determine what constituted the portion reckoned to be scrambled eggs. There was a limp mass of a glutinous yellow substance on a small yellow polystyrene tray. The yellow substance which I took to represent scrambled aggs was quite difficult to distinguish from the tray underneath, it being of a similar colour and in some ways a similar texture, so I was in danger of slicing off a corner of the polystyrene tray each time I consumed some of the glutinous yellow substance, which to this day I refuse to address with the title of scrambled eggs.

Eventually I did manage to struggle through this representation of food, and I admit it had the desired effect of silencing my ravenous tummy for a while, but I woould never go so far as to say the experience was wholesome, or satisfying, or even pleasant.

Oxford street? Perhaps you should have ordered the sausage McMuffin?

i have actually never given this global conglumergut a cent of my hard earned… and from what i have deigned to taste, it isn’t pretending.

Stick it to the man! The man is always trying to keep us down.

there was the word ‘good‘ in the op… and i am asuming the op meant, by ‘breakfast’, something approaching ‘food’…

😉

The Canberra Club does a good continental and full breakfast.

Allara Cafe next to the casino opens at 7 and does a pretty good breakfast.

I assume that the OP wants food.

the kitchen at the Waldorf cnr London Circuit and Akuna Street – does an excellent brekky and have occasionally had breakfast meetings there with interstate visitors – all good!

+1 for the Pancake Parlour. Right there in the Civic Interchange.

I haven’t tried it, but I’m told the Pancake Parlour proves very popular after Anzac Day dawn services

Il Covo in Allara Street is open at 7am.

Wander across the the Purple Pickle at ANU gym.

I’m pretty sure all the kitchens in Civic open at 7:30.

Even with my average culinary skills, I am yet to have a breakfast in Civic that I couldn’t cook better myself at home.

Delissio in Braddon hands down makes the best breakfast anywhere in Civic.
