eastern rosellas

These two little beauties came to visit RiotACT’s palatial Civic suites today.

The birds really are one of the wonders of Canberra.

Well done, been trying to catch some in the wild, but they are too flighty. Need a bigger lens 🙂

The rosellas nesting in the round holes in the walls of 15 Bowes Street are still there, you could try getting a shot of them if you’re keen to brave the Woden bus interchange. Above platform 15 would be a good place. I saw two rosellas this morning, one at each hole, checking out the scenery and having a chat as they clung to the openings. I’d have taken a photo but I was running to catch a bus that turned out to be too full.

Nice pic. I get them regularly on my Silver Birches in the inner south. They like to chew on the catkins.

We’ve had frequent visits from a few of Rosellas over the past summer.
