It might feel with all the legal numptiness of David Eastman that his long awaited judicial inquiry was already well underway.
But no, that was just the preliminaries.
The ABC has the news the wheels of justice won’t start turning until November.
At a directions hearing on Tuesday Justice Duggan said he would like a start date in August, but that has been stretched out to allow Eastman’s new lawyer Paul Willee to prepare for the case.
The inquiry heard key evidence from a ballistics expert has not arrived yet and the Australian Federal Police say they are having problems sorting restricted material related to organised crime.
The inquiry also heard some witnesses have been reluctant to participate.
The official start to the hearing will now be November 5.
Round and round we go.
