Eggs - fresh, local and ethical

Can anyone vouch for a good source of genuine freerange eggs in Canberra. I have heard that regulations are a bit lax, and cartons with freerange printed on them may not actually be as chicken friendly as you might hope.

On the other hand, I have also noticed that freerange eggs I buy tend to contain a few more gritty bits than the old fashioned battery kind.

I don’t buy that many eggs, so I can never remember which are the good ones.
Any recommendations?

(Available around the 2602 area preferably…..or civic.)

As a fellow Raiders fan, it pains me to say this, but that is bullcrap Ralph.

As long the chicken’s nutritional needs are met, they lay. Happiness is not a prerequisite in nature for reproduction.

I’d recommend buying your own chickens if you have space. We had 3, which comfortably provided enough eggs for a family. The black and red ones are the best, purchased from Bellchambers in Fyshwick.

Chickens won’t lay if they’re not happy.

I believe the chicken shop in the City Markets sell proper free-range eggs, from memory anyway.
