Election Wrap - 5 October

Polling:

The Canberra Times reveals that Jon Stanhope has gone from a 63% over 19% lead over Brendan Smyth four years ago to a slim 41.6% over 40% lead over Zed Seselja. One suspects this has more to do with the Brave Leader than any of Zed’s qualities.

Seriously though, with a projected 6-6-4 split of major parties with the Greens is it time they started running this polling three way?

Meanwhile the ABC appears to be having trouble coming to terms with the possibility that a Labor minister could lose their seat.

Greens:

A Canberra Times journalist writes that the Greens are ready and willing to accept a ministry to help out whichever party rules the roost post 18 October. This appears to have got Jon Stanhope speaking in the angry voice, declaring the notion “highly presumptuous”. That’s going to cost you Jon if you have to negotiate with them for your political life in two weeks. But quickly adapting to circumstances and/or being diplomatic were never strong suits were they?

That same journalist also brings word from Green-ville on plans for more public art and more money for artists.

Another election thingy – Labor are removing the bins from Pine Island.

John Hargreaves says this will reduce the rubbish getting in the waterway, as everyone will take all their rubbish home………..

Steve Pratt disagrees.

The party also wants to expand the Labor Government’s ”per cent for art” scheme to private developments and extend the sometimes controversial public art program.

There you have it folks… a voting for the ALP or Greens will ensure that we get even more monstrosities paid with your tax dollars on the side of our roads.

anything but moronic labor party in office , they will never understand that effort should be rewarded not equal mediocrity

Well I never understood how the Liberal and Labor parties got hold of their little hegemony anyway…

What’s really highly presumptuous is Jon Stanhope assuming that no party other than the Libs and the Labs can take government.

I’m not a Greens voter, but it would be cool to see the Greens in opposition, and Labor holding the balance of power!
