The Ellis Collective have announced that their long awaited CD “Means What It Means” is going to be released soon.
‘Means What It Means’ is The Ellis Collective at its finest, retelling the jagged-edged disappointments of ordinary life against a backdrop of staccato string sections and multi-layered harmonies. The track characterises the band’s unconventional approach to storytelling, featuring vocals that echo Gareth Liddiard or John Darnielle accompanied by sizzling pizzicato, shredding guitar and driving bass lines. ‘Means What It Means’ is both a poetic exploration of human fallibility and an exhibition of breathtaking musicality.
They’re starting out with a single launch for the title track on 18 February at The Phoenix to build up to an eventual May album release.
