Don’t forget Suzie Quattro is also coming to town next month.

If he’s doing wineries and stage 88, presumably he’s going for the “theoretically more intimate but still largish outdoors” vibe. Which is fair enough – hey, even the Rolling Stones did a gig at the Enmore last time they were here…

Is Stage 88 the biggest venue? Bigger than Bruce Stadium? This must be the biggest rock act to visit Canberra ever… I wonder if he’ll be doing the orchestra thing?

Someone is set to lose a packet over this as Canberrans a renowned for preferring to stay at home to watch TV rather than going out to see live music.

Does anybody remember a very similar event to this one “A Day on the Green” held in 2004 at the Commonwealth Park with Elvis Costello? At $60 a ticket they struggled with sales and ended up having a buy one get one free promotion to get people to go.

I predict that Elton tickets will start at about $100 and then closer to the date will drop in price dramatically.

awesome indeed. But stage 88 in Canberra, and a couple of small winerys. This is quite a downsize for someone who has played to packed out arenas and spent time in Vegas. It’s like if they’d had a ticket tape parade for Neil Armstrong on his return from space but instead of doing it in Washinton, they moved it to New Kalapunkport, Mayne. Still, great for Canberra!

Awesome!
