ACT Policing have arrested a 15–year-old girl after it was alleged she and another teen approached two teenage girls and stole their mobile phones and an iPod at Emu Bank, Belconnen at 6.30pm last night (December 9).

Witnesses had identified two teenage girls, aged 13 and 15 years old who may have been involved in the incident.

Police located one of the girls in the immediate vicinity where she was arrested and taken into custody. The other girl was located a short time later near the Canberra International Sports and Aquatic Centre and found to be in possession of stolen property, including property from the robbery victims.

Both of the teenagers were taken to Belconnen Police Station, where police identified that the 13-year-old was not involved in the offence and subsequently released. The 15-year-old girl was conveyed to the ACT Watch House and charged with the offence.

A second person of interest was identified and enquiries into their involvement are continuing.

No injuries were sustained during the incident.

The 15-year-old girl will face ACT Children’s Court this morning.
