Nanzan has sent in a most comprehensive list of signs in Gungahlin he’d like changes to.
Strap yourselves in, here we go:
Horse Park Drive and Arrabri Street, Casey: says “road closed” but both roads, left and straight ahead, have been open for months.
Horse Park Drive and Arrabri Street, Casey: Horse Park Drive exit sign has been plonked down behind “exit closed sign”; old sign obscures new sign, and the exit has been open now for months.
This time they got the street name wrong! Right hand street is actually Overall Avenue, not Arrabri Street; Overall Avenue is of course named after Canberra pioneer and doyen of the National Capital Development Commission, Sir John Overall, who must be turning in his grave. His son is mayor of Queanbeyan.
This one shows the entrance to the Nicholls District Playing Fields, although it is, as the sign says, actually no through road – there is no access to the playing fields at this intersection; the actual entrance to the playing fields is the next intersection along, where, of course, there is no indication that the entrance to the playing fields is there!
Intersection of Overall Avenue and Horse Park Drive, Casey: sign, on Overall Avenue, says “no through road”, but the road is actually a through road, and Overall Avenue is of course the new arterial road that traverses Casey, and has been open for many months now.
Gungahlin Drive and Horse Park Drive intersection in Nicholls/Casey: road on right is actually Clarrie Hermes Drive, not Gungahlin Drive.
Raises the question who, in the ACT Government, is responsible for supervising the contractors making and erecting these signs, at our expense?
Here endeth Nanzan’s rant.
