Eric Abetz still like a dog with a bone over Simon Sheikh

The Liberals’ Erica Betz is still getting over wrought by the idea of a progressive front organisation fund raising in much the same way as the numerous conservative front groups.

Particularly he wants to know about the Labor Party history of the Greens ACT Senate Candidate Simon Sheikh:

“Revelations in today’s Australian that Simon Sheikh was an active member of the Labor Party for four years, prior to resigning to head up GetUp!, raise questions about his and GetUp’s honesty and integrity,” Senator Abetz said today.

A statement on Mr Sheikh’s website says: “When Simon was a teenager, Simon was a member of the Labor Party for a year. As happens with many people, he quickly became disillusioned and left.”

“The two can’t both be true,” Senator Abetz said.

“Simon Sheikh should come clean and personally say exactly how long he was a member of Labor and, if he doesn’t Greens Leader, Christine Milne, should make him.”

We’re sure Christine Milne loves responding to Erica’s demands.

Meanwhile Overly Attached Girlfriend reports in the Canberra Times that Vicki Dunne has asked the other kids in the Legislative Assembly to stop being mean to Senate Candidate Seselja.

Am I alone in always hearing his name as; “Erica Bets”?

No – Crikey.com.au have called him that for years.

I’ve never visited crickey.com, it’s obviously run by people of taste, I shall go there forthwith!

It used to be better. Now I only enjoy First Dog on the Moon. For as long as they keep touting Bernard Keane as Australia’s best columnist I can’t take it seriously.

JB is a far better contributor to public debate (and that’s not a gratuitous suck-up).

And that’s coming from the PM!!

“Meanwhile Overly Attached Girlfriend…”

That’s not very nice, JB…

Why did the greens pick this Muppet?

I was listening to him on the radio the other afternoon and after not answering the question about how long was he in the Labor party for (many many times) the announcer said “thanks for the interview goodbye.” It was brilliant.

If they can’t answer a question, why give them air time.

I thought he picked them. He appeared to “nominated” himself depite some better local candidates objecting. I think he is just looking for a job as he had to get up and leave the last one.

Shiekh has been telling porkies on another front as well. In an attempt to try and ingratiate himself with Canberrans and convince us that he isn’t a “fly-in, fly-out” candidate, he told us all that he worked for a year or so in Treasury. As it turns out it wasn’t in our own bona-fide building in the Parliamentary Triangle but the NSW Treasury up in Sydney.

How much more fraudulent can this man possibly get?

Probably a lot more given this is high on my meh meter.

I probably wont be voting for him but not because of these vague non-issues. If Abbott can shrug off a bit of push me shove you with some wimmins why should I be too stressed about when this guy was or wasnt a member of some group or other? I wont be voting for him more on what the current policies of his party are.

Abets was very helpful to the extreme right candidates in the last local election, he must also love the idea of getting another far righty like zed into the caucus. That will help when it comes to voting for all sorts of Christian right and other dry ideas.

According to his website, Eric is blessed with three children, so you would think that he might have some grasp of the fundamentals of reverse psychology – apparently not. Either that, or he has so little self awareness that he fails to understand that his public image and views are, shall we say, a tad to the right of the typical Canberran, and many country miles away from the Canberrans who might be contemplating a vote for Simon Sheikh. With a bit of effort, Eric might be able to arrange for Alan Jones and Ray Hadley to jump on the bandwagon – that’ll really seal the deal.

I thought that was a possibility, but then thought if I were doing that I’d go the whole hog and refer to him as a “she” somewhere in the text.

Eric’s gender confusion rears it’s ugly head aagin Johnboy…

Title’s all good though.

That’s not confusion, it’s me having a little fun.

How does Mr Sheikh currently spend his day here in Canberra, whilst waiting for the moniker ‘Senator’ to replace “Mr’.

Has the Greens candidate also forgotten to tell us how long he has been a Sheikh?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheikh

The Australian have picked up on this, and it appears that Simon might have been a Labor member for longer than he remembers………

What else has he forgotten to tell us about?
