ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an attempted aggravated robbery at Erindale McDonalds early this morning (Wednesday, September 28).

About 4.20am a man gained entry to the back of the store and ran through the store to the front door to let in a second offender. Both men were carrying large knives.

The men demanded money from the cash registers but the staff refused. The offenders ran from the store and left the area in a white Mazda Astina driven by a third offender.

Both offenders spoke with Australian accents, were wearing hoodies and had their faces covered. No one was injured during the incident.

Police ask anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

Erindale is a complete cesspit these days. Not only is violent crime like this a bi-weekly occurence, but the place really is in a horrible state. I walked my dog through there one morning not long ago and the amount of rubbish strewn about the place (95% of it Maccas packaging) was apalling. Honestly it made Mugga Lane tip look like Buckingham Palace. It was so utterly depressing to me that it was the deciding factor in selling up and moving north. Sometimes you can just see the writing on the wall.

Same bogans who robbed the Dominos? They should just describe them as having bogan, or dero, accents. Or “Uneducated Australian accents”.

They could say “Thick Australian accent” but perhaps that would cause confusion between
– Thick (Australian accent); and
-(Thick Australian) accent.

“bogan aussie accent” doesn’t sound good on a police media statement.

How about “Strine accent” as a compromise?

This seems to be a growing trend:

Blaggards demand money from staff; staff say no; blaggards run away.

I wonder if this could catch on in other areas of extortion in society.

Not like the Asian and middle eastern accents criminals usually have.

I demand you cite the stats for that.
