Actually I know the guy that owns the caravan. There was no drug stash at all. There was nothing left in the house because he had removed it all the previous day because he was moving houses. Everybody connected to him knows who it was, the only problem is, is that there is no proof.

But if they demolished the caravan park where would the poor unfortunates go? Living next to me. No thanks!! Back into government housing, I suspect not. A large proportion cannot get public housing due to previous misdemeanors in public housing. How bad are you when ACT Housing decline to put you on a waiting list?

Koomarri sold the Caravan Park for $2million a few years ago. Do you think that it should have been demolished back than, drug stash and all?

It was for the extended garden gnome and tasteless ornament collection, wasn’t it?

If a house in Conder (selling for $100k in 1998) can be valued at $300k today then $150k is about right for an extended van.

Fair enough midlife. I am sure that there are varying degrees of quality and safety at this place.

“$150k worth of improvements”… funny

Life in a shanty town…

V twin you have not been out there recently. Impressive and Narrabundah Long Stay Caravan Park should never be used in the same sentance. Refer the Chief Ministers website it has a reprot into all the deficiencies including many unapproved structures and concern about the central amenities block. When I was dealing with them years ago even the electricity connections and personal toilets were all unapproved. I am surprised that the fire only destoyed one caravan.

I think there was a misprint in the report. They should have said the fire caused $150k worth of improvements.

Some of the structures at these parks are quite impressive (for portable buildings), add to that ALL of someones possesions. I reckon the loss could easily reach $150 000.

150 GRAND!!!!

Seriously?

$150,000 damage in a trailer park? Wha, did the guy lose his drug stash or something?
