Ginger Gorman: Reporting on Trauma

| TuggArts

How do journalists tell the untold stories of marginalised people who have suffered trauma and stigma in their lives?

In this special Literary Lounge event, presented as part of Tuggeranong Art Centre’s The Human Condition program, highly regarded social justice journalist Ginger Gorman discusses the importance of telling the stories of trauma survivors and giving voice to their experiences.

Gorman will reveal the collaborative practices she employs to keep vulnerable interviewees safe in the interview process and make them feel represented in the final article. She will also discuss the importance of self-care for journalists who are exposed to trauma through their work.

The session will be facilitated by political journalist Karen Middleton.

When: 6 pm, Thursday 5 April (following the performance of Skin and Bone, a dramatic response to Another Day in Paradise by Orana Steiner School’s senior drama students)
