Bring your family and friends for a fun-filled day at the Holy Family Primary School Fete on Saturday November 23. There will be plenty to keep the kids entertained with Bells Amusement Rides & Side Show Alley, a jumping castle, face painting, hairspray, show bags, sand art, live entertainment and more.
This year the school is bringing a bit of country to the fair with pony rides, a petting zoo, blacksmith displays, gumboot tossing and freshly popped popcorn. Event organiser Megan Douglas says the school chooses a different theme each year.
“This year we hope to bring a bit of an old fashioned country fair atmosphere to the fete. We will have a wood cutter showing his skills as well as a scarecrow making contest and a cake baking competition. People can try their luck to win a prize in Pick a Pop and many other lucky stalls. And we dare the students to drench our brave teachers in Soak the Teacher,” Ms Douglas said.
There will be plenty of opportunity to stock up on your gift shopping with an array of handmade gift stalls. With over 30 stalls there will be something for everyone. The fete will have kitchen pantry, homemade craft, cake and plant stalls, second hand books, toys and children’s clothing and more.
“We hope everyone will purchase a few tickets in the chocolate wheel with lots of fabulous prizes generously donated by local Canberra businesses, as well as some tickets for our major raffle. The raffle will include a chance to win a share in $6000 kindly donated by McIntyre Real Estate, MLC Advice Centre and Conference Co-ordinators,” Ms Douglas said.
“We will have a lot of different delicious food options, including Devonshire Teas, Greek cuisine, potato-on-a-stick and a barbeque, as well as fruit salad, fairy floss, ice creams and slushies. We also have a great line of local entertainers, along with displays from community and sporting groups that are bound to keep people entertained for the day. We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s smiling faces there.”
“We are still looking for sponsors and we currently have room for more market stalls. Please get in contact with us if you are interested,” Ms Douglas said. “All funds raised at the fete will go towards purchasing equipment for the sports department, including uniforms.”
