It’s all about food and fun for the whole family at the first ever Holy Trinity Fete and Food Fair this Saturday (3 November), as the Catholic primary school in Curtin celebrates the many cultures within its community.
With around a dozen food stalls offering Mexican, Italian, Indian, Samoan and Lebanese delicacies, along with traditional fete food of popcorn, fairy floss and pizza, the day will be a festival of cuisines from many backgrounds.
Organiser Lisa Bauer said the fete was a celebration of the Curtin community.
“The point of difference for our school fete to others is ours is based around the community and food,” she said. “It is a celebration of our diverse and lovely community in Curtin, so we will have families bringing food from their cultures to celebrate the day.”
There will also be gourmet produce for sale, including homemade jams, cakes and preserves, and a range of stalls to choose those perfect, local Christmas gifts, including jewellery, candles, Christmas decorations and beautifully filled hampers.
If that isn’t enough, how about seeing the Brumbies’ Dan McKellar being dunked with cold water? The head coach has offered his services to raise money for the school, with the highest bidder being able to dunk him on the infamous dunking toilet at midday!
There will also be more than a dozen activities throughout the day for kids, including bubble soccer, an obstacle course, an art and craft DIY corner, hair braiding, glitter tattoos and more.
The fete will be raising much-needed funds for the redevelopment of the school’s basketball courts and the launch of the school’s robotics program.
Entry is free, parking is easy and the day starts at 10 am and runs until 2 pm.
