Opening 6:00 pm Friday 14 May, showing until 27 June.

Through this body of work, I capture the often unseen and unique movements of glass in a frozen moment. My investigations into the amorphous material qualities of glass through kiln forming processes have informed and shaped my art practice. I am intrigued by the ways in which the strength of glass is often juxtaposed by its fragile qualities. The balance between strength and fragility, between amorphic and structured, reflects my interest in the interrelational aspects of phenomenology.

In this body of work, I recreate the balance embodied in the glass forms through the use of their opposing qualities. By using contrasting materials and finding geometry through shapes and spaces, the inherently unstable nature of glass is enhanced.

Pushing my investigations further, I attempt to alter the ways in which the viewer might interact with the works. The purity of material provokes curiosity, but the fragility of the kinetic glass elements create resistance. These works have ephemeral tendencies.

Through this series of temporal forms, I capture my close observations of the material. As interconnecting objects react and create conversations with each other, they reference the relationship, communication and balance I have with the material as I work; – Megan Wilkinson
