This school holidays, head to the National Library of Australia for a stage design workshop!
Performing Arts is all about creativity and imagination – and is more than just the play, script or music being performed. Set design and costume design play a major role in every performance.
Open to young people between 8 and 15 years old, this workshop will provide participants with inspiration from the Library’s performing arts collections, and the materials, to design and draw their own costumes for a play or performance, and create the stage set design using common craft materials.
Participants can draw from a selection of scenes from plays provided, or they can use their own imagination and “stage” a play of their own creation. All designs and materials used at the workshop can be taken home at the end of the workshop.
Participants will also get a short tour of the Library’s On Stage: Spotlight on Our Performing Arts exhibition as part of the program.
