Ex Comet Dawso in the runs for Tassie

By Thumper - 16 December 2005 2

Ex Ginninderra and Comets batsman Dave Dawson, now playing for Tasmania, yesterday scored his second first class century against South Australia as the Apple Islanders fought tooth and nail to secure a draw.

After failing in the first innings, Dawson batted for 399 minutes to reach his highest first class score of 144 not out when stumps were called at the end of the fourth day.

Also in the Tasmanian line up was one Darren McNees, former Comets opening bowler, who, although taking a bit of stick from the South Australians, still managed the best bowling figures for the Tasmanians with 3/122 off 31 overs.

In other ACT cricket news the Under 19s are looking like they will record their best result ever at the National under 19 championships.

ACT have better, no less than South Australia, Northern territory and Tasmania and went down to a very strong Victorian side by only 4 runs.

Oh yeah, Coatsey whacked 48 against the Tassmanians.

And tomorrow (Saturday) the first 20/20 comp in the ACT starts. Should be a laugh to go and watch although I only know that Ginninderra are playing Wests at ANU North at 0930.

Carn the Tiges! Moose moose moose!!!
