Mayor Stanhope is warning that 500 metres of Majura Road near the airport is being widened and resealed.

“Work starts this week on safety improvements and other necessary repairs to Majura Road,”Mr Stanhope said. “The work will take about two months to complete and deliver a safer and smoother road for motorists.

“The roadworks are expected to cause temporary traffic delays and motorists are encouraged to consider an alternative route while the works take place.”

The sooner they start the sooner it’s over.

A bit of foresight would be helpful. Maybe expand it properly in the first place and you won’t have to redo it every 12 months?
When they built the 8 lane Harbour Bridge, there were only 6 cars on the north shore. Probably because without the bridge they couldn’t go anywhere, but that’s foresight nonetheless! They didn’t have to build the tunnel for another forty years.

Most of the traffic drives past Snowtown, not into it. Majura Rd is a main freight corridor to Fyshwick and Tuggeranong from the north.

There have been continuous road works around the airport for the last ten years. How long does it take to dig a hole in the ground and fill with bitumen for sake???????? Snow builds his empire and we pay for the roads that lead to it.

In true Canberra style, they’ll widen one side, then 18 months later widen the other.

just build the parkway already.

Well they were meant to start on the 19th (according to the signs) but so far the only sign that anything’s going on (apart from the signs) is some traffic cones by the side of the road. Not so close to the airport either, closer to the Majura base.
