There were a series of loud explosions in Belconnen tonight, between about 8:30 and 9:00pm, followed by a bunch of sirens.

Anyone know what’s going down?

Ah, I remember nuclear bungers…. the good ol days.

CT reports they were ‘Fireworks at Poachers Pantry’, apparently heard as far away as Goulburn.

Good grief! What were they using … nuclear bungers?

I slept through it…so what’s goin’ down?

They weren’t in Belconnen. Although I don’t know what was going on, it was spectacular and about 5 klms N/NW from the ACT Border on Barton highway out to Yass.

I certainly heard them… my feeling was that it was the Army range from the other side of Mt. Majura (although, it’ll be known soon enough by the experiences of those living in Eastern Canberra.)

I reckon the sirens were coincidental – it was raining, and the morons love coming out in the rain and practicing their aquaplaning.
