ACT Policing has released a facefit of the offender involved in a possible abduction attempt in Banks on Monday morning (March 18).

About 7.30am, an eight-year-old girl was walking along Forsythe Street, Banks towards a bus stop on Pockett Avenue when she saw a white van stopped on the opposite side of the road.

The male driver of the white van got out of the vehicle and approached the girl telling her to ‘get into my van’. The girl ran off to the bus stop where she met other persons, she was unharmed.

The male driver is described as dark skinned, about 5’2” (158cm) tall, around 40 years of age, skinny build, dark eyes, big ears and short black hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt, black long pants, black gloves and had a black cap.

The white van had a black bull-bar with NSW registration plates (possibly containing a number 2 and 6).

The usual outcome is:

1. Media Release
2. Pitchfork brigade
3. Matter ends up being wildly exaggerated or an invention by the kid

Daniel Morcombe…

It’s the occasional outcomes that concern me. I am not saying I know what would have happened here, but there is no way that any eight year old should be walking around alone.

Why do you think that, poetix? Me and every other child in holder where out and about by ourselves at age 8.
What age do think think is appropriate? The difference between a 8 year old and a 13 year old trying to fend off a attacker would be around the same. This girl did exactly what we should be reaching our kids to do.

Really? Have you seen the size of some 13 year olds?

Well I used to work at a lot of high schools, so yeah. I get your point, but on average most kids that age can’t do much more than run if some scum tried to grab them.

Which would be exactly what one would hope they’d do ie. run like hell away from the sick bastard attempting to kidnap them.My girls are all grown up now but when they were around eight they were never allowed to walk home from school on their own without an older sibling or adult accompanying them.

🙁 mine are 3 and 5 so I got all that crap to worry about still to come

That’s the facefit of someone described as ‘around 40 years of age’? Damn, I hope I look as youthful at 40!

Porky worky, are you confessing to seeing many bell ends protruding from trousers in your time?
