Monday in Batemans Bay got tipped upside down with the police bomb squad from Sydney flown in by helicopter to deal with a suspicious package.
Just before 9 am this morning, staff at an Orient Street business noticed an unattended bag and alerted local police.
The surrounding area was cleared as a precaution and an exclusion zone put in place, shutting a section of the CBD down. Local traffic diversions were put in place.

The area was reopened and declared safe by the bomb squad at around 1 pm.
Speaking with Nine Newspapers, Sgt Mark Dudley said nothing dangerous was found and he suggested it was a deliberate hoax for unknown reasons.
He says a clock, battery, and wires were uncovered along with a note that said boom.
“It’s [the bag] been handed back to local police for further investigation,” he says.
Anyone with information about the fake bomb threat is asked to contact Crime Stoppers – 1800 333 000.
