Tiffany Martz, Acting Director at Artemis Early Learning, says the takeaway service has been a huge hit since its launch.

Earlier this month, Artemis Early Learning in Fyshwick launched a unique new takeaway service for families that is delighting parents and fussy eaters alike.

The service allows parents and staff to pre-order meals from the centre in child and adult portions, escaping the need to think about, buy ingredients for, and spend an hour cooking dinner in the evening.

Parents are given a login to an online portal on the Artemis website, and can place and pay for orders up until 11 am on the day they desire their meals.

Parents can order online up until 11am on the day they wish to take home their meal.

The meals are neatly packed into special insulated bags ready to be picked up when collecting their child.

The takeaway meal recipes have already been given two thumbs up from the children, and are considered “family favourites” at the centre.

Each portion includes a main and side, with recent menu options being:

  • Cheesy Beef Lasagna (with salad and potatoes)
  • Quiche Lorraine (with cream potatoes, honey carrots, butter beans)
  • Chicken pie (with steamed veggies)
  • Irish Stew (with crunchy bread roll, mashed potatoes and butter beans)
  • Sausage and mushroom stroganoff (with beans and broccoli)
  • Spicy Szechuan beef and broccoli stir-fry

Tiffany Martz, Acting Director at Artemis Early Learning, says the takeaway service has been a huge hit since its launch.

“It’s been really well received by families, not only because it is a real time-saver, but it also helps parents get their children to eat a healthy dinner. Apparently, just telling the children that our cook Vicki made it is enough for them to drop the dramatics and dig in!

“We started slowly, offering the service for one, then two and now three days a week. Parents are starting to plan their dinners around it, ordering for two or three nights during the week in advance.

“Even our staff have been using the takeaway service regularly! The online ordering system makes it super easy, even if it’s the last minute and a mum or dad realises they’re not sure what to make for dinner – so they jump on and do an order at 10am for that afternoon’s pickup.”

The centre plans to make the service available most days of the week, and will expand the menu to include more and varied options such as vegetarian meals.

“We’re being led by the parents,” says Tiffany. “We planned this as a service to help families. So we will continue to evolve the service in line with the feedback we get from them. It’s a huge time and stress saver, which can be so welcome at the end of a long, tiring day when the last thing anyone wants to do is spend time in the kitchen only to find that your child vigorously resists consuming that meal!”
