This one does not move

Ben_Dover has discovered the marvels of the animated .gif and given us a feast of beta-motion induced illusionary movement.

Enjoy.

OoooOOoooh!

Well, Photoshop is a bit like that, but a basic animated GIF like this is pretty easy to make.

Put each frame on its own layer and then use the Animation timeline under the Window menu to set the order and timing, then Save for web.

Cheers mate, will try.

Any reason you didn’t do the GIF in Photoshop?

Yep. Mainly due to me not having the foggiest how to!!

Your free software may be easier, haha, but I suspect you’ll get better image quality control if creating the GIF directly from Photoshop.

*interval shooting on some models

Looks good, I think animated GIFs are experiencing a renaissance.

(For Canon users btw, you can do internal shooting on some models using the Magic Lantern firmware add-on as an alternative to a specific accessory.)

Hey, I remember animated gifs.

It’s a bit noisy, and a bit slow.

I’ll keep working on these though, it’s nice to see some movement in a scene.

For the photoheads here; 30 images shot as raw, at 3 second intervals*.

Batch processed in photoshop, rendered as a .gif in “photoscape” (Free software!)

*Mrs Dover kindly let me buy an intervalometer. (JY-710.)
