I just read on a forum that there has been a fatality on Ginninderra Drive.

Does anyone else have any further details about this incident?

UPDATED: The ABC explains as much as can be explained:

Police say the man, aged in his 40s, has fallen from the truck he was driving and under the rear wheels.

The truck continued down an embankment before stopping.

Road toll to two, still no involvement of alcohol or speed.

Sorry about your dad, but resurrecting an ancient thread with a barely literate comment is just opening yourself up to ridicule.

Hope you and your family are doing okay.

Adam, sorry for your loss.

My advice to you would be to ignore this thread and ask your friends to ignore it too. Otherwise it’ll just fuel a slanging match that won’t do your dad’s memory justice.

There’ll always be pedants or someone who wants to shoot off their mouth before they know the facts. Trust in the fact that there’ll be people here who will remind them that they are full of crap.

well when a door does not lock properly it is easy to fall out.. I am a close friend of this family.. so.. there needs to be an investigation into the truck owner….

my heart goes out to his family.. being the wife of a truckie.. makes me even sadder.. my prayers are with you all.. especially the the one I hugged today..

Seatbelts save lives!

I DON’T THICK THAT YOU ARE A CLOSE FAMILY FRIEND . IF YOU WERE YOU WOULD KNOW THE SIZE OF THE DRIVER. HOW DO YOU KNOW THE DOOR LOCK WAS NOT WORKING.

We could all sit here all day saying this is what happend or that, but at the end of the day we might just let the appropriate professionals investigate this unfortunate accident and see what conclusion it comes to

It is an unfortunate circumstance what happened but i think the trucks owner would not be or held accounted for following this freak accident, i think you just dont fall out of a truck going around a corner. Was he wearing a seatbelt? Cause I know that particular truck is factory fitted with a seat belt or could it have been a heart-attack.

Wouldn’t the seat belt prevent falling out?

Sounds mighty odd.. you would probably have to be doing a high speed to enable your body to move that far while going around a corner.

Obviously that stretch of road needs a speed camera…

Thumper I don’t know if your a northsider or not, But there IS a speed camera at this intersection.

Do we say everyone who drives a car is bad at it when there is a fatal car accident? Often those who criticise truck drivers have VERY little knowledge of the skill it takes to drive such a large vehicle (particularly when sharing roads with car drivers who think that a truck can pull up as quickly as a car, or uses the same turning circle).

My condolences to the family.

There’s about 8 million and three ways this could have happened. I suggest we wait for info before casting judgement.

I am not saying i know what happened vy, but, as i have several members of my family who drive trucks, saying that most people are just lousy at their jobs, is a bit of a stretch to what has happened here. My condolences for his family.

Do you drive a truck? This type of accident does happen. You might ask how a skip container managed to fall on and crush a man at Evatt shops, but it does happen. I think pure bad luck might be the culprit here.

good to hear that you know everything about everything. this could have been a freak accident, the driver may have been out of the truck with the engine running, perhaps checking his load or the tray and it has engaged a gear and shaken him loose, throwing him down from the cab.

how many times have you stopped your car on the side of the road to check something? do you leave the car running, or do you turn it off?

He probably hit the gutter and his door wasn’t closed properly or something. I drive a truck and they bounce around enough as it is.

I drove past the accident at 4pm – shortly after it occurred. Police still blocking off the road, didn’t look too pretty.. Drove past again maybe 15mins ago. Plenty of police still there.

I however don’t recall seeing a truck at the scene only a 4wd drive. I am confused as to how a driver turning left falls out of the right hand side of a car ? Tragic

Drove past this one just after it happened. Didn’t look flash. Thought he might have been hit as a pedestrian as I couldn’t see the truck.

How does one fall from a truck that you are driving?

Truckies generally don’t wear seat belts… Something similar happened at the Glenlock interchange a few years ago as well I think.

This is tragic. There must have been plenty of witnesses in that area.

The very brief report says a man fell out of the truck he was driving and then under the rear wheels?!

Also it was the corner of Aikman and Ginninderra Drive, where the retirement village is going up.

Damn that sucks. I just drove past there and wondered what was going on.

There were workcover people everywhere and they were looking around on the ground. I assumed it was maybe some kind of explosion.
