UPDATED: Investigations continue into truck crash as Federal Highway partially reopens

UPDATE 1:30 pm: A truck driver suffered minor injuries when a truck and car collided earlier today (30 July), a NSW Police spokesperson has said.

Emergency services were called to the Federal Highway at Sutton at about 10:30 am today (30 July) following reports of a crash. On arrival, officers attached to Queanbeyan Police District found a truck and car had collided and rolled.

The truck driver, a 38-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Queanbeyan Hospital.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old female driver of the car and the three passengers declined treatment from NSW Ambulance paramedics. They later attended Canberra Hospital, the spokesperson said.

While the highway was closed to southbound traffic, one lane has since re-opened.

Life Traffic NSW suggests motorists be prepared to merge and to allow extra travel time if they need to travel through the area.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing, according to the NSW Police spokesperson.

12:00 pm: A major highway near Canberra has been closed to southbound traffic following a crash.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning (30 July) when a truck and car collided, according to Live Traffic NSW.

As of noon on Tuesday, the Federal Highway is closed in a southbound direction at Macs Reef Road, near Sutton.

Emergency services are also on the scene.

People are being advised to use an alternative route and allow extra travel time, with traffic being turned away.

Motorists heading to Canberra can use the Hume Highway and Barton Highway, while those leaving Goulburn can use Braidwood Road and Bungendore Road or the Kings Highway. Both diversions are suitable for all vehicles.
