Federation Square

I went out to Federation Square at Gold Creek this afternoon. I’m wondering who is supposed to look after and maintain the area. Is it TAMS? Is it privately owned?

It’s a lovely area with some nice places to eat and some lovely shops which are moderately to highly over priced. 🙂

However, walking around I can see a lot of neglect. It really needs to be spruced up a lot. The grounds need to be redone with a lot of attention to uneven paving and weeds. Who should I contact about this? TAMS or private owners? I look forward to responses from the hive.

I remember the last time I went there and there went many dead Koi (that had turned white in the sun) floating on top of the water. When I was a kid my favourite thing about the place was the bridges over the water and the big fish, but they obviously needed more care than they were getting so its good they are gone now.

My favourite shop was the cat shop that has been gone ages. There is such potential for the place and still many cute shops to find treasures and gifts in.

Yes it’s privately owned and asking in any of the retail outlets would have given you all the information you need. Are we also at liberty to pop round to your place Brianna and demand you remedy parts of your land that we find to be below a standard we consider acceptable?

Bit harsh Swaggie. Why shouldn’t we expect the shops we frequent to be in good repair? I know I don’t want to shop in an area that is run down and rubbish strewn.

NB – the ponds are gone – good riddance.
I was there on the weekend too – and apart from the overpriced shops (one wanted to charge $3.50 for a can of drink) I thought it was looking great.
I should also say that there are some lovely shops there and not all the cafes are overpriced.

Well if Brianna’s property is transformed into a retail outlet, and she would like to attract nice and returning customers, I highly doubt she’d want the advice or opinion from a Retail Store owner who can’t even simply clean and tidy the area to a decent standard, resulting in an individual having no other option then to post online to ask who is responsible for cleaning the area, as it looked like Federation Square was forgotten over a decade ago, don’t expect to hear from her Swaggie 🙂

I asked one of the shop owners once who is responsible for cleaning the vile fish ponds and she said the shop owners pay part and the ACT Govt pays part. I agree it’s a cute little area but it definetly needs a good tidy up.

My understanding is that it’s privately owned. Canberra Connect might be able to give you more information.
