Feeble Rebels get rolled again at Summernats?

By johnboy 7 February 2011 11

Alert readers have been pointing me at a post at performanceforums.com on trouble at Summernats where the Rebels once again started something they couldn’t finish.

Please excuse the language of the motorsport fraternity:

Heard similar. Rebel king hits security guard and drops him, all of a sudden it was like a coconut tree had fallen, islanders fuckin everywhere, Rebels “couldn’t cook the man some f*ckin eggs” and end up laughing from the other side of their faces, game over… That was firsthand from an intoxicated gent, would have been worth the watch 😉

Do the Rebels need some help? Or does Canberra need a more formidable bikie gang?

What’s Your opinion?

Yeah, Jim, P1 . . . pretty much all of the aerodynamicists, data acquisition engineers, software engineers, suspension system engineers and tertiary qualified metalurgists / fabricators of my acquaintance from within the motorsports fraternity are complete neanderthal cretins, possessed of only about a 100 word vocabulary. That’s all you need to be successfully employed in any one of the many multi-million dollar business enterprises that exists in that sphere it seems.

Pharque some of you people are pseudo-intellectual snobs.

Sorry . . . touchy point in my world (like the term ‘petrolhead’).

I was actually quite serious about that thread being pretty tame. The average group of motorsport enthusiasts I might have a beer ’round a camp fire with would throw in many four letter “F” words, and the occasional “C” work (likely when referring to the drug dealing criminal member if the legitimate motorcycle enthusiast organisation). I am by no means suggesting that this makes such people knuckle dragging neandertals (or even dodgy boggans of the sort that give summernats a bad name). The people in my example are a mix of professionals, IT, sciences, engineers, tradies etc.

You should hear the language that can come out of my brother when he has spent a few months at a mining camp, and he is a pretty highly trained intelligent and polite professional.

Yeah cos that’s how everyone in the “motorsport world” talks???

You are right. That thread contains surprisingly polite language for the average motorsport enthusiast.

Don’t most of them just grunt and make ‘vroom vroom’ noises?

Ah Summernats … seem to be able to operate under different interpretations of the law.. Our most strident non smoking laws against what was a dried leaf, go out of the window at the nats when you see spectators, some young kids , suckin in good ole rubber smoke at the burnouts. Perhaps rubber smoke is seen to be less harmfull than that from a dried leaf..

I’m surprised people care, or even visit summernats. Its always the same people, the same events, the same winners, and the same issues. I wonder if the government paid for the event this year :/

Still has the same issues “trying” to attract non male bogans, to a male-bogan event by excessively tightening security.

Sounds like someone bit off more than they could chew.

Awesome. I’d love to see all the bikies get beatdown on a semi-regular basis.
