Chief Minister Gallagher has announced the launch of “Find a health service:

“This new directory, developed by the Health Directorate, will greatly benefit healthcare consumers by providing them with a single online listing of health services and ways to access those services via the Health Directorate’s website.

“The consumer-friendly search makes finding a health service easy. Users are provided with an outline of each service, the service address, phone numbers, locality on a map, and opening hours with links to relevant websites for further information about the service.

“Find a health service lists a wide range of health services, including Mental Health, Aged Care, Allied Health, GPs, Pharmacies, Women’s and Children’s Health, Pathology, Public Hospitals and Cancer Services.

“Over the next three months, additional services will be incrementally added to the directory, and we encourage participation from service providers currently not listed,” the Chief Minister said.

Let’s hope it’s kept up to date.

I clicked the link. Must be like the other services. I’m still waiting……..waiting……..Must be time for a cup of tea and a mag.

Not a bad idea, but the pretty pictures used as icons show the international symbol for Emergency Medical Services (i.e. ambulance) as allied health – which is not related and none of the services listed relate either, and the Ambulance Icon used(fair enough I spose) for Health Transport only shows two services – one of which is in Yass valley – doesnt even list all the private sector ambulance or patient transport providers, government providers or all the community based providers……

That will help. After all, there’s no such thing as a telephone directory for Canberra that sorts things into professional categories…

Oh wait.

On the other hand, those of us working for agencies where the Yellow Pages and local hospital websites are blocked by the firewall (!!!) may find it very useful. Not that I’m bitter or anything.
