Finding photographers!

I am trying to find a good photgrapher that does reasonably priced family photos here in Canberra.

I don’t want it to be arty farty. Just a set of decent family photo’s that wont cost an arm and a leg.

Some photgraphers are precious about their artwork and keep the rights to the photos and won’t let you put them online. I would like to find a photographer that allows the clients to retain the rights to the work.

Any suggestions?!?!?!?

Oh, and they also give you copyright on images, which it sounds like you are after.

As first poster said, definitely Grin and Bear It. We had some photo’s done earlier in the year. Both mum’s, great with kids. Very reasonable session fee and no expensive reprints.

Try Anjele, she uses natural lighting, shots don’t look fake/posed, and you can use your pics any way you like on your website etc. Not sure if she has a website, but here is her fb fan page http://bit.ly/b1yHDt

That first link is http://grinandbearit.com.au to save cutting and pasting 🙂

http://www.soulaffair.com.au/ they provide everything you have requested

A friend of mine: http://heartstoryphotography.com.au/

Local girl, beautiful photography, well priced.

“allows the clients to retain the rights to the work” … retain the rights (ie. copyright) would indicate you hold the rights in the first place. You don’t.

Other than that I understand your premise and found the whole experience of finding a wedding photographer many moons ago a little bit unsatisfactory. In part due to the reasons you mention.

Back in the day we used Jennifer Nagy for our wedding, she was very flexible in regards to handing over negatives (remember them) and was also the only photographer we found that didn’t have to sell us a wedding package full of photos/scenarios we didn’t want or need.

If she is still operating it’d be worth touching base. She’s not too precious and assuming her costs meet your budget expectations she should be just what you’re looking for.

Try Nathan: http://nathanjlester.com/ – I am not sure about his policy on ‘keepers’

try grinandbearit.com.au did great pics and give you the disk with all the pics on it to do as you wish.
