ACT Fire & Rescue has responded to an automatic fire alarm call to Parliament House this afternoon.

Fire crews arrived to find a fire had ignited within the Great Hall near the front public entrance to the building but had been extinguished by on site security staff.

The fire in a curtin is believed to have been sparked by a nearby light fitting. The immediate area was temporarily evacuated.

Firefighters are now ventilating the room.

Time of call was 1:39pm.

I just thought i would take a look at some of ESA’s previous media releases going back to early November and it’s quite apparent spelling or proof reading is optional.

‘Fire crews are now mopping up at the scene whioch has caused extensive damage to the detached metal gararge’.

‘No damage to structure or assests have been reported’.

‘ACT Fire & Rescue responded immediately to the Robe Street property after recieving an emergency triple zero (000) call from one of the householders just before 8:00pm’.

You’ll never get those few minutes back …

Not to worry Gillard’s slush fund will foot the bill.

Deliberate pun? If only they had said that people were goughing…

But of course they are far too busy for such silliness.

Sounds like quite the insadent

Curtin on fire???

I always wondered what that funny smell was in the Great Hall was; after all, he’s been dead since 1945.

*curtain.

“The fire in a curtin…”

I find this particularly humourous, given the location.

Should that be ‘curtain’?

Not a patch on this.
