30 people have been evacuated from a unit block in Griffith this morning following a fire.

ACT Fire & Rescue responded to Stuart Flats on Light Street just after 1:20am with three fire pumpers, breathing aparartus support van, HAZMAT unit and commander. Crews arrived to find a ground floor unit alight.

A search by firefighters wearing breathing aparartus found there was nobody inside.

The fire was then extinguished before it could spread to adjoining units.

The unit sustained severe fire and smoke damage. The cause will be investigated.

Firefighters are now conducting atmospheric monitoring before allowing residents back into their homes.

Another grow house up in flames.

Surely couldn’t be any more hazardous to one’s health than the stench that normally emanates from those units?
