Fire in Hume

The ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Fire & Rescue are currently responding to a fire on Sheppard Street, Hume.

Multiple persons have been evacuated from the area.

Update to follow.

1:32pm Thursday 16 February 2012

ACT Fire & Rescue have extinguished a fire believed to have started in a converyer belt, at a paper recycling business in Hume.

Eight employees self evacuated from the building during the incident.

ACT Intensive Care Paramedics are treating two patients for smoke inhalation, both are in a stable condition.

Investigation into the cause of the blaze will continue.
