Fire in Red Hill

ACT Fire & Rescue currently on scene at a house fire on Investigator Street, Red Hill.

Firefighters currently working to extinguish the fire.

Occupants of the house safely self evacuated.

ACT Ambulance Service also on scene supporting operations, with no injuries reported at this stage.

Update to follow.

8:04 PM

Fire has been knocked down and under control.

Crews are checking for any fire extension into the roof space of the single brick and tile, medium size residential house.

Three fire pumpers on scene with the Breathing Apparatus Van, the Bronto Skylift Hydraulic Platform, the specialist Hazardous Materials Unit and two command vehicles.

No damage to neighbouring properties.

Update to follow.

Fire has been extinguished.

Fire started in garage of house and spread through the roof space.

Extensive damage to approximately 25-per cent of the house, estimated at $100,000.

Fire crews will remain on scene overnight to prevent any reignition.

Routine fire cause determination will be undertaken tomorrow.

Time of Emergency Triple Zero (000) call 7.39pm, with fire crews arriving within six minutes to prevent fire totally destroying the property. On arrrival to the fire, crews noticed house was well alight with smoke alarm sounding.

There might be fire in Red Hill, but not much fire in Capital Hill.

This is not far from my place. Heard the sirens last night and thought “gee that’s close”
