Did you hear on 2CC this morning the bloke from Police Media referring to Woden Shopping Square. Now that’s a blast from the past. Then owners Lend Lease changed the name from Woden Plaza to Woden Shopping Square in 1981. The public hated the name and kept calling it The Plaza despite thousands of advertising dollars spent to promote the name. They finally gave up in 1987 when the name was changed back to Woden Plaza. In 2004 Westfield changed the name to Westfield Woden despite only owning 50 percent of the complex.
