ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to two suspicious incidents involving arson early this morning (Saturday, April 16).

About 2am, police were called to an incident in an apartment block in Allambee Street, Reid where a stolen white Toyota Tarago van was on fire. The flames from the vehicle spread to a nearby building. ACT Fire Brigade attended the scene and extinguished the fire a short time later.

The damage to the building is estimated to be worth more than $50,000 and the vehicle was destroyed in the fire.

In another incident around 3.55am, police attended a report of a fire at a business in Whyalla Street, Fyshwick. The windows of the building had been smashed and accelerants thrown in through the broken window.

Any witnesses who were in Reid or Fyshwick at the time of the offences and may have seen people acting suspiciously, are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
