Saw lots of fires from Western Creek all the way down to Kambah on Tuesday night. Not a word in the news that I can find. Does anyone know if it was a HR burn or was someone getting busy with some matches.

Happened Tuesday night…

Thursday.

Despite what RhKNo2 may be suggesting, Majura Pines is neither near Kambah or Weston Creek (the Pines are vaguely near the Airport), and the 10th was a Wednesday.

Is it just me, is the ESA not getting their message through sufficiently ?

If they don’t cut the grass on Commonweath Ave soon, we may have some real fires to work with.

Might have been Bam Bam trying to eradicate the wasp problem using the suggested methods mentioned elsewhere…

“10-1-2008 Smoke simulation exercise tonight in Majura Pines

The ACT Emergency Services Agency has urged Canberra residents not to become alarmed by the site of smoke coming from Majura tonight (Thursday).

The ACT Rural Fire Service will be conducting a training exercise for volunteer fire fighters in the area between 7pm and 9:30pm.” From the ESA web site

Or Stanhope preparing a new subdivision!

Or Chester burning effigies of Stanhope!

Maybe its the Indian Cricket Team burning effigies of the umpires…

Appeared to be a burn off along the summit of Coolemon Ridge.

The grass has been up to waist height recently and because it’s quite steep up there, the slasher can’t get to it.
