Chief Minister Gallagher has announced the first $200k of the million dollar Community Centenary Initiative Fund:
- — National Trust (ACT), Centenary of Canberra Rally from Jervis Bay to Canberra, $70,000
— Tuggeranong Community Arts Incorporated, Lakeside community sculpture project, $10,000
— Artsound FM Inc, Heritage Preservation Project to archive Artsound FMs recordings, $9,900
— Cake Decorators Association of the ACT, Cake Decorators Open Day, $1,000
— National Foundation for Australian Women, Permanent on-line exhibition – From Lady Denman to Katy Gallagher – A Century of Women’s Contributions to Canberra, $38,500

— Morris Register of NSW, Morris 100 Canberra Morris car rally and tour of Battle of the Sites towns, $7,400
— Scouts Association of Australia, ACT Branch, Scouts Aloft hot air balloon and youth pilot training program, $30,000
One can only hope this stunningly weak field (I’d personally rate half that list as being worthwhile) will inspire better entrants for the majority of the money still up for grabs.
If you think you’ve got a better idea there’s a web page to apply on or you can call the dashing Centenary of Canberra Community Engagement Officer, Mr Dan Watters on 6205 8408.
