The Chief Minister of everything including the Environment has put out this media release letting us know 46,000 new fish fingerlings have been put into Canberra lakes and waterways. 11,000 Golden Perch into Gungahlin Pond, 20,000 Murray Cod into Lake Tuggeranong and 15,000 more into Yerrabi Pond. No good catching them now but they should be ready in 2 to 3 years.

I’m not sure if LBG and Ginninderra were left off because the fish would just die from the algaefied water, or if its just a rotation plan where-by they get their fish next year. Either way Lake Tuggers has just been declared clear for swimming, whilst LBG is still closed.

Anyone who eats Murray Cod doesn’t deserve to be fishing for them.

The only people who should eating the fish out our nations capitals lakes are those aspiring to be waif like models. The resulting food poisoning ought have you smaller than my intellect.

@Thumper:
Just be careful of the blind mullet coming downstream from Queanbeyan 😛

Does anyone know if swimming is ok at Yerrabi ponds? It seems like the cleanest of all the lakes. Ginninderra is pretty foul.

They’re not really for eating LG, it’s for recreational fishing.

Don’t say “of fish” please bishop!

Not sure if I’d want to eat any fish caught from ACT lakes…
