pothole

Six years ago we were having some fun with potholes.

Since then the Fix My Street website has made the punters much happier.

Today Mayor Rattenbury has announced they’re getting a mobile interface in and will be able to use the positioning data common to modern phones:

“This new mobile friendly interface will make accessing information and payment services and reporting issues easy while on the go,” Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury, Rattenbury said.

“By enhancing mobile access to the Canberra Connect website and Fix My Street service, people will be able to provide online feedback to the government and immediately report neighbourhood issues such as a pothole or broken footpath as they find them.

“The mobile interface has been developed to take advantage of functionality that is commonly available on smartphones and other mobile internet enabled devices.

“By bookmarking the Canberra Connect web page, an icon can be saved to a mobile’s home screen, enabling quick access to this online service.

“People might also choose to utilise their device’s inbuilt GPS capabilities to ‘geo-tag’ their location as they submit their feedback, which can assist work crews to locate issues reported quickly and efficiently.

“Users of the mobile interface will also be able to upload images from their mobile and attach them to their feedback, further enhancing the level of detail received about an issue.”

But if it’s at all amusing don’t forget to also email the pictures in to images@the-riotact.com .

Sweet, have used the web site twice and have been very impressed with how quickly the issue was resolved by TAMS.

I too have used it twice but my concerns seem to go into a black hole. I’m thinking the next step will be to dig a pothole out the front of the legless assembly, and when they come to fix it in two days ask them why it has taken two F@$(/NG months to not get a response about my seemingly less important pothole.

Hope it is pure geo-tag. The one time I tried to use Snap Send it refused with invalid address. There are no house numbers on that part of Belconnen way.

Good stuff – though I thought that was what Snap Send Solve (or is it SnapSolve) was for?

Kudos for not calling it an “App”.
