Canberra zombie fanciers are putting out the call to their brethren to sign up to a facebook page with the stated aim of getting a Canberra Zombie Walk going like what they have in them big bright cities.

Some might question how, faced with a mostly deserted City Walk populated only by shambling living dead, one could tell anything out of the ordinary was taking place?

Fortunately the fake blood will add more colour than usual.

They have this to say about their plans:

We think its high time Canberra had its own Zombie Walk!

Description

This is just the beginning. No dates set as yet but ideally later this year or in early 2013. Hard work has just started getting permission from ther authorities and getting sponsors and charities involved.

They’ve got 73 likes at the time of this writing so get clicking if you’d like to see it happen.

So is there a special name for a thread about zombies that zombifies?

I am happy to see it back. Pedantry at its finest rides a white pony.

Looks like the page is back up and running. These guys should talk to the Theatre of the Dead people and get some cross promo happening.

A Night Mare (two words) IS an undead horse.

And the favoured steed of the Death Knight.

I think a night mare (or Night Mare, same thing) is actually the horse one rides in dreams. It is a horse out of your control that takes you dreaming, not necessarily dead. It started as a word for incubus but merged with the English word for female horse. In Shakespeare we find ‘I will ride thee o’ nights like the mare’ (Henry IV Part 2) which shows the older notion of incubus beginning to merge with the idea of a horse.

I just don’t know where your definition comes from and would love to. I’m probably missing something really obvious. (Not the Bible I hope. Or World of Warfare.)

From Wiki:
A mare or nightmare (Proto-Germanic: *mar?n; Old English: mære; Old Norse: mara; German: Mahr; Dutch: nachtmerrie; Swedish: mara; Icelandic: mara; Faroese: mara; Danish: mare; Norwegian: mare/mara) is a spirit or goblin in Germanic folklore which rides on people’s chests while they sleep, bringing on bad dreams (or “nightmares”).

At least someone bothers to do some serious research (all it takes is a few keystrokes), but most prefer whatever rubbish drifts across the vacuums of their mind

lol this.

I wonder if socialist alliance attends and somehow makes it a political protest.

Hikis wouldn’t be outside walking the streets pretty much by definition.

Quite right, Duffbowl, although I think you’ll find it’s DEATH. 😉

Dammit, how could I make that rookie mistake.

Virgins be gone…

Happily / Sadly (depending on your point of view) nerdy is the new little black dress.

Now if only that sort of attitude existed in the mid eighties… *sigh*

Dungeons and Dragons. This is a website after all.

Given some previously expressed views that zombies are a craze that has passed its use-by date, this would be flogging a dead nightmare then?

I did have fun on a Melbourne tram last year, edging away from zombie commuters when I was in relatively good clothes; even that fake blood leaves those hard to shift stains. And don’t start me on the brains…

saw one of these through the Melbourne CBD a couple of years ago – looked like great fun!

I thought this was a regular occurrence in Civic on Friday and Saturday nights after 2am. Gore covered zombies shambling to the nearest taxi rank engaging in an orgiac feast of violence and destruction as they battle for the services of the only taxi in Canberra.
