Simon Corbell has announced he’s called in the development of Flynn Primary:

“I have called in the development so work can commence as soon as possible on the second stage of this important community facility for the Flynn community,” Mr Corbell said.

“The community hub in Flynn will be a great benefit to Flynn and Belconnen residents. It will provide an accessible space from which local groups and organisations can provide important services to the community.

“In particular, space will initially be offered to Marymead, which will expand its community-based services into the Belconnen region, and the Belconnen Community Service.

“Marymead is proposing to run services from Flynn which are similar to the services they run at Narrabundah including parenting support and counselling. This space will address need and make it easier for people on the northside to access the services.

“Belconnen Community Services is seeking space to expand service delivery in areas such as family and children support.

“I have ensured the application has also been independently and rigorously assessed by the planning and land authority,” he said.

Under Section 158 of the Planning and Development Act the Minister can call in and approve an application if he or she considers it will respond to a major policy issue, have a substantial effect on achieving objectives of the Territory Plan or provides a substantial public benefit.

So you can all stop complaining.
