Follett to Stefaniak: hang in there

In a case of odd bedfellow, ACT Opposition leader Bill Stefaniak has been taking advice from former Labor Chief Minister Rosemary Follett. Well, the advice mainly seems to have been to just hang in there and tough out the latest scandal, but from the Canberra Times story on the matter it appears that one sought out the other.

Mr Stefaniak talked briefly about that email to the ACT Chamber of Commerce and Industry yesterday. Apparently someone rang him to say (mysteriously) they thought it was great publicity, but the Opposition leader would much rather the focus was back on the Government’s failings.

His speech to the CCI was part of the Liberals’ attempt to contain the fallout, with threats having been made of businesses withdrawing donations to the party if it continues in the current shambolic state.

You have got to feel some sympathy for Stefaniak. As Follett suggested all he can do is to hang in there. Clearly he was hung out to dry by the person who leaked the email. If you read the email carefully one MLA comes out OK compared to the rest. That is why it is so obvious that it was deliberately leaked. What is the next bit of controversy for the Libs? Perhaps the AHA report will be leaked. Does it even exist?

Oh bollocks, that comment wasn’t designed to give Stefaniak support but to remind the public of hte trouble the libs are having.

Speaking of Rosemary, I see in todays canberra age that she’s got a guernsey on the new body set up by nohope to address the shills shortage in the ACT.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

That may be, but it seems to be what he used the speech for. Remember, he may have been scheduled four weeks ago to talk but that doesn’t mean he wrote his speech four weeks ago.

I’m not sure that the speech was designed to stop the fallout – I got an invitation to the lunch from the CCI about 4 or so weeks ago – before the public spat (at least publicly.)
