Joy Burch has announced a consultation on a review of a policy in an area that doesn’t much matter anyway:

Community consultation will begin today on the ACT Government’s review of its education policy for gifted and talented students, ACT Minister for Education and Training Joy Burch said.

The current Gifted and Talented policy was developed in 2008. As part of the ACT’s commitment to the National Education Reform Agenda, a decision was taken to review the policy to better support students identified as gifted and talented.

A six week community consultation will be undertaken from now until 25 November 2013. A draft policy created by a working group comprised of parents and teachers will be made available during the consultation.

The gifted and talented are largely beyond the help of the education bureaucracy.

Frankly I’d rather see the effort going to making sure the thickies can read.

This is good to see. Gifted and talented are a group that get spoken about, but don’t actually receive much real support. Providing solid encouragement and support to gifted and talented youngsters is a good thing, and will likely cost bugger all.

I don’t see what the issue is really. It doesn’t directly affect anyone else. Gay people are getting married around the world right now in various countries, is there some gay marriage barrier that is protecting australia from the supposed society collapse brought about by gay marriage?

Most of the problems come from people who just can’t mind their own damn business. Live your own life instead of getting your jimmies rustled over what someone else is doing.
