Foreshore from the right shore, 2008

Rather than my own pathetic reporting from the far bank of the Molonglo, Toriness was actually inside the wire and sent in this picture from the Pnau set and the following comments:

i went to foreshore, and had a great time due to great company and some bloody awesome sets (pnau and presets being the absolute standouts), the brief downpour of rain didn’t even get me down (i took a jacket unlike most of the young foolish kiddies) – my positive overall experience being despite the fact the facilities were absolutely pitiful compared to last year’s event.

i spent a good 2 hours of my 8 hours there standing in obscenely long lines to the bars (2 visits) and toilets (2 visits) – this was the experience of everyone i know who went as well and it is absolutely unacceptable. there was clearly a much greater number of people there this year – compared to last year – and yet not at all a commiserate increase in bar and toilet facilities – a black mark on an otherwise great day/night.

Also known as the ‘Haha, you should’ve taken pills!’ policy.

Word on the street is they ran out of everything but Crazy Monkey & Vodka around 8pm and then everything alcoholic by 9pm.

Being a sober male I didn’t experience queues for anything. I reckon a lot of the toilet queues were because of guys too scared to use the urinals. Not me though I’m a MAN.

What you call a 2 hour queue for the bar is what’s known as ‘drunk control policy’.

I’ve been going to festivals all over the world since 1985 and find that by taking 1 immodium at the start of my day I don’t need to queue for the khazi ever. Plus the feeling of anticipation the next day when the effects wear off and you remember the 10-12 pints of lager and poorly cooked kebab you consumed the day before are due to make a reappearance is always exciting.

it only rained for about 2 x 20 minutes or so towards the end of the night compared to the 4 hour torrential downpour we had last year so i would say the damage would be fairly minimal.

How badly was Commonwealth Place trashed this year?
